Holmen Husky Lodge is a family-built retreat in Alta’s farm country at 70° North — surrounded by fields, forest, and Arctic stillness.

Summer here is slower and brighter, with the midnight sun casting golden light over the land. Guests stay in one of seven Forest Suites at the edge of the pine woods, and explore the region through small-scale experiences like husky hikes, puppy visits, and fjord outings. Whether you’re here to slow down or head out, Holmen offers space, calm, and real connection to the North.

Our story

Summer Activities

From guided hikes to puppy playtime, dry land mushing with our racing dogs, fat bike rides to fjord, fishing — summer at Holmen is quiet, playful, and close to nature. Some activities are exclusive to overnight guests, while others are open to all visitors.

Stay in a Forest Suite

Premium A-frame cabins designed for connection with nature.
Our 62 sqm Forest Suites are built in cross-laminated timber and set quietly at the edge of the pine forest. A full-height window draws the forest inside, while a skylight above the bed opens to the northern sky.

The Barn & Spa

The Barn is the heart of Holmen — home to our reception, restaurant, and lounge. It’s where you’ll find breakfast, books, coffee, and slow evenings by the fire. The sauna is right next door, always warm and waiting. This is how we gather.

The Holmen Way

Let the trail shape you.
We are mushers. This life, and these dogs, taught us everything we know. That’s why we believe in care, in quiet, in going slow. The bond between human and dog is at the heart of what we do—and everything else follows.
