Sustainability

Climate, Environment, and Workplace Responsibility

At Holmen Husky Lodge, we believe Arctic experiences should be sustainable — for the land, the animals, and the people who live and work here.

Certified Environmental Practices

We are a certified Miljøfyrtårn(Eco-Lighthouse) business. This means we meet national requirements for energy use, waste management, purchasing, transport, and emissions. We conduct annual reviews and report on measurable environmental targets.

Our main actions include:

• Minimizing energy consumption through energy-efficient buildings and heating systems.

• Using eco-labeled cleaning and hygiene products.

• Systematic waste sorting and reduction.

• Prioritizing local suppliers and sustainable transport.

Climate & Nature

We operate year-round in sensitive Arctic environments. We work actively to reduce the impact of tourism by:

• Limiting group sizes and maintaining low-impact trails.

• Using natural materials and local labor in construction.

• Educating guests on Arctic ecology and responsible travel.

We believe our strongest climate contribution comes from inspiring connection to nature — and encouraging long-term stewardship of the wild.

Working Environment

Holmen is a second-generation, family-run company with a seasonal staff of guides, handlers, hosts, and mushers from around the world. We prioritize:

• A safe, inclusive, and team-based work culture.

• Proper training and safety routines.

• Seasonal housing with good standards.

• Continuous feedback and team development.

Our goal is to provide meaningful, healthy work for those who share our passion for Arctic life, animals, and adventure.
