Go further. Stay longer. A deeper connection to trail, dogs, and story.
This five-hour experience is designed for guests who want more than just a taste of mushing—those who want to lean into the rhythm of the trail and the bond between human and dog. You’ll drive your own team of Alaskan Huskies along the original route of Finnmarksløpet, Europe’s longest and toughest dog sled race, tracing the frozen Alta River as it winds toward the plateau.
With a veteran musher leading the way, the journey becomes as much about presence as it is about distance. We stop mid-way for a warm trail lunch cooked over open fire, sharing stories from the race and the life we live out here in the north.
Tours are offered in small groups of up to 6 guests or as a private experience.
It’s the kind of adventure that stays with you—long after the trail ends.

What our guests say
My wife and I booked a five hour dogsledding tour through Holmen, as well as an overnight in their Snowdome - both were absolutely great! Overall, a trip to and stay at Holmen is highly recommended for your trip to Alta! Truly a once in a lifetime experience!
